Landscape Better LLC is a responsible landscape company that produces sustainable, beautiful, and very low-maintenance landscapes. Hillsborough resident and owner Judd Mandell has a gift for seeing functional design. Combined with the hands of an experienced craftsman and the heart of an environmental artist, each project Landscape Better builds enhances the look and use of the home as well as making it easier to maintain.
Landscape Better's Sustainable Landscape Plan was developed from decades of encountering problems and implementing solutions that worked, lasted, and continue to look good. At its core is following the 4 F's—function first, form follows. This enables the company to bring the vision of the client into a sustainable reality. As recent client Matthew Schorr attests, ”Landscape Better was as professional and as detailed oriented as I could have ever dreamed. Judd paid close attention to my need to have my landscaping easily maintainable.”
Mandell is currently working toward certification for "Education for Sustainability" through a grant from the Dodge Foundation by the Cloud Institute. He has led elementary school classes to create pledges to recognize and protect their commons and worked with schools on Earth Matters and Earth Art. Mandell is also a trustee of Borogreen, a group of Hillsborough residents and businesses aiming to aid Hillsborough.
