A new homebirth midwifery practice has opened in Whitehouse Station. Lesley Franco LM, CPM, offers midwifery care for couples planning to give birth at home, Doula services for couples choosing a hospital setting, and Holistic Childbirth Preparation classes for either. Working with a midwife is a safe, affordable option for healthy, low-risk women.
During pregnancy, the mom and midwife form a bond built on mutual trust and respect. The mother is given education and support, so that she can make informed decisions regarding her care. The midwife works with a referral network of holistic health specialists, such as chiropractors, acupuncturists, rolfers, lactation consultants, and more.
Home births are woman-centered and the midwife seeks to uphold the rights of each woman to define her needs and identify her support system. Franco says, “I will honor the beauty and intimacy of birth, while remaining an unobtrusive guardian of safety. My goal is to facilitate babies being received gently and peacefully – hopefully, to grow into gentle, peaceful adults.”
