Publisher’s Letter

The crisp morning air tells me fall is settling in. Morning sips of freshly brewed coffee or tea, sitting quietly alone, wrapped in the silence of nature, always have a calming, peaceful effect on me.
Countless times I hear from friends and relatives who have moved away that what they miss most is the change of seasons. I can see why.
Soon the kaleidoscope of colors will surround us. Fall screams get up, get out. A bike ride along the paths and trails from Frenchtown to Newton, a hike along the Delaware River, or even kayaking the Delaware produces so many aha moments. There is an “in the moment” effect that comes over me when I am engulfed in nature in the fall.
If it is true that getting out in nature influences our state of mind and nurtures the soul, then fall fills the palette.
Too often I miss the trip or the drive to see the colors. The colors do not wait for a free weekend. This year I am committed to taking full advantage of the photo ops, the apple picking, and the hot cider. This year, get up and get out with the family is locked in.
Fall also reminds me that the holiday season will be upon us shortly. From pumpkin picking to turkey and stuffing, and Santa soon thereafter, let us make sure we do not stress over the coming season. Do not stress out—get out. Go for a walk. Enjoy nature all year long. It is good for the soul, not to mention the health benefits.
Wishing you and yours a warm, healthy and peaceful holiday season.
