Silk Ribbon Natural Dye Workshop for Mother’s Day!
Join us for a very memorable Mother’s Day hands-on workshop.
Join artist Rebecca Kelly for a very memorable Mother’s Day hands-on workshop. Learn how to naturally dye pastel silk ribbons using flowers and herbs including lavender, elderberry, and hibiscus! These shimmering pastel ribbons are Eileen Fisher palette inspired for the spring season. You will come away with a spool of pre-dyed warm cream, tender pink, and cool lavender ribbons to adorn packages, tie up a bouquet of flowers, weave, and of course, wear in one’s hair. As a special present, we will have a bar of Luxury Lavender soap gift wrapped with a silk ribbon and ready for Mom. We will sip lavender lemonade and munch on divine lavender shortbread cookies as our fabric brews! Participants will forage on the farm for materials for your own personal future dye experiments. You will learn techniques on how to successfully prepare fabric for dyeing projects, including scouring and mordanting cellulose and protein fibers. Resources and bibliography will be shared to all participants. This is a rain or shine workshop, held in our newly renovated workshop space. In the event of rain, please do bring an umbrella to go on a brief farm walk to identify some of the plants we’ll be using.
